Sony PSP2 To Be As Good As The Original Xbox

You might think that the PSPgo is the successor of the PSP, however, this is far from being true. The PSP and PSPgo are not really in the same category, and you don’t have to be a genius to tell that Sony is working on the next-gen PSP. Although there is no actual proof that points to a new PSP, Eurogamer says that Sony is working on a new PSP which will house some pretty impressive hardware.

The next-gen Sony PSP will feature a quad-core PowerVR SGX543MP chip which is similar to the one found on the iPhone 3GS. Don’t be impressed by the smartphone just yet, as the PowerVR SGX543MP is much powerful. Actually, it’s as powerful as the one found on the original Xbox 360, and it seems like it will run Open GL 2.0, and DirectX 10 (this is questionable).

If it were to trust only rumors, then the PSP2 is indeed in works. However, like aforementioned, it’s not hard to think that Sony is working on the second-gen PSP. The original PSP was a huge success therefore Sony has considered and will continue to consider the development on the PSP2 because they can’t afford the opposite.

  • wow i would totally buy this!!!!!!! like the day it came out

  • If THIS is the psp2, I’d buy one the day it came out. Two analog sticks, enhanced graphics. I’m not sure by this design how the R1 L1 would work, maybe the two buttons on the side are an R1/R2. PSP GO…I like the idea of a UMD-less system. I like the idea of hitting a button and accessing the Playstation Network to order up a movie or tv show on the go. But the system in THIS picture, with the chip this article is boasting, with being UMD-less and accessing the PSN like the PSP-GO…I really hope this will become a reality. $250.00 for the GO…I just don’t know. But THIS device…I’m already sold.
