Google lost an important man after five successful year where he played a big role in all Google APIs. Engineering Director Mark Lucovsky announced that he will leave Google for VMware, after developing most of Google’s search APIs. Previously Lucovsky worked for DEC, and Microsoft, and he will remain in history as the engineer who made Steve Ballmer go crazy.
Mark Lucovsky worked at Microsoft for 16 years where he wrote the kernel executive, kernel32, and Windows API for Windows NT. He was the architect of Windows NT which eventually became Windows XP. Lucovsky was awarded the Distinguished Engineer while working at Microsoft where he also contributed to the Microsoft Hailstorm project that transited old Microsoft products onto .NET framework.
When the engineer decided to leave Microsoft in 2004, he went on a meeting with Steve Ballmer. The Microsoft CEO was very annoyed by the fact that one of his most important men was leaving. He just wanted to know that he’s not going to Google, but when Ballmer heard what he had feared, he just went out of his mind. He was like the Incredible Hulk and began smashing and throwing stuff away, but he will be remembered for what he said:
“Fucking Eric Schmidt is a fucking pussy. I’m going to fucking bury that guy, I have done it before, and I will do it again. I’m going to fucking kill Google,” said Steve Ballmer.
Well, Google is still here. Eric Schmidt, too. And I don’t think they will be buried soon. Google is doing just fine, as well as Mark Lucovsky. I guess it remains to see what he will do at VMware, and probably we will find out more soon.
