HTC Firestone Renamed Leo, Coming Soon With Windows Mobile 6.5 and Snapdragon
Earlier today I was talking about how much I would enjoy a HTC smartphone with good specs and beautiful design. Well, I know what I was saying, and I know what I like, and this handheld has it all except one thing: Android. Why would HTC make an incredibly good-looking smartphone with great specs if it feature Windows Mobile? That’s beyond me, but we presented you the HTC Firestone quite a while ago.
This is not it’s official name as now the Firestone has been renamed HTC Leo. The rechristened smartphone will features a 4.3.-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 resolution, 5MP camera with autofocus and dual LED flash, 320MB of RAM, 512MB of flash memory, Snapdragon processor, Windows Mobile 6.5, accelerometer, light and proximity sensor.
The HTC Leo will support quad-band GSM/EDGE, dual-band HSDPA, WiFi, GPS, AGPS, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, a 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD expandable card slot, and 1230mAh battery. The codenamed Firestone will measure 121 x 67 x 11 mm, and it should be released sometime in Q3 when Windows Mobile 6.5 is out.
Please note that the HTC Leo is not an official smartphone. The HTC Firestone was first spotted a few months ago and haven’t heard of it since then. We will return with more information when something new surfaces.

For you to say, “Why would HTC make an incredibly good-looking smartphone with great specs if it feature Windows Mobile? That’s beyond me…” is pretty myopic.
Not everyone is like you. Some of us who have REAL JOBS work in a Microsoft environment. We have to sync with Outlook. We have to handle Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Windows Mobile syncs properly with those applications. Android just isn’t there. You can buy some third party aplications that address some of these issues, but it is included with Windows Mobile. No extra money and no compatibility issues.
I understand Windows Mobile isn’t perfect, but if you read support forums for Android, you will see it isn’t perfect either.
I think Ron B.’s comment is rude and disrespectful. By the way, Ron, some of us have REAL JOBS and alert you to the latest news in addition to our real jobs.
Also, waaaaaaaaaaaa! Call yourself a waaaambulance and hitch a ride to the whocares-spital.
Android and WinMo will duke it out and HTC will rise above.
Oh yeah, and NO ONE prefers WinMo anymore. Get with the times.
I guess I am a nobody then. And there are millions of us that prefer WinMo.
Its not about poeple with “Real Jobs” but what the job entails. What you have to realize is that the “apps” just doesnt cut it in the business environment.
I started using Windows Mobile a couple of months ago when I upgraded from the Palm 680 to the Palm Pro. I believe the operating system is excellent with all the customizing available for it. Although not flawless, it definatly takes care of my needs and provides plenty of entertainment. Oh and apps are availabel for this format in the medical industry that are not available in Android or other OS’s. I can download them to my device and use them even when I cannot get a signal due to hospital architecture.
@Whatevvs Ron!
Cool you like Android and iPhones, While also saying that no one uses WinMo? You have to be kidding right! It’s a fantastic OS and has amazing robustness for anyday situations.
HTC will find there ground for Winmo and Andriod to settle into there product range. seeing as there a manufactor they don’t really have to worry about which one comes out on top.
HTC are without the best smartphone/pda manufacturer. WinMo is by far the most usable and sync-able OS, and probably the best supported. Its like saying Linux is the best OS for a PC, its good and has its niche, but if you want all round functionality then you use windows. Same with Smartphones/PDAs.
As someone who developes software for phones i can say windows mobile is by far the best operating system for a smartphone out there. there are millions more apps out for winmo than there are for android and iphone combined, and the vast majority of them are FREE. windows mobile also allows for more tweaking than either other os if you know what you are doing.
anyone who says the iphone is better than winmo or that android is is either just a fanboy, only has experience in that one os, or just really has no clue what they are talking about.
So much of rumored 8 million pixels camera, I guess
