BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 Caught On Video With SurePress and OS 5.1
The next-gen Storm has been long rumored before its release announcement because the original Storm sucked hard. Although there is no official release date, both RIM and Verizon said that the Storm 2 will be available sometime in the next 6 months, but one month ago. This means that there are 5 months left for the Storm 2, now BlackBerry 9550 to become available.
After we’re seen some early specs of the smartphone, everybody is keen to find out if BlackBerry opted for a capacitive touchscreen instead of the SurePress technology. Well, according to the guy in the video at the bottom of the post, the Storm 9550 is based on SurePress which has been significantly improved therefore typing is a lot faster, more accurate, and generally better.
The BlackBerry 9550 Storm will be powered by BlackBerry OS 5.1 which looks exactly like its previous versions. In the video you can see that the acelerometer still sucks, meaning that it’s very very very slow. At the moment there aren’t any official specs, but WiFi could be present as RIM announced that all BlackBerry smartphones will feature WiFi after the Tour.
Among other significant changes are the four BlackBerry buttons which are part of the touchscreen, and darker metal adding more style to the Storm. Hopefully, the Storm 2 or the BlackBerry 9550 will not be as bad as the original Storm. More information soon, so stick with us!
