Microsoft Releases Build 7600 As Windows 7 RTM
Steve Ballmer has announced yesterday at a conference that Windows 7 has been released to manufacturing. The code of the Windows 7 RTM didn’t reach its destination, but should arrive to all computer manufacturers in just a few days. According to Microsoft’s CEO, the RC1 software is almost the same as the RTM as the software developer hasn’t added any new features or something else. The difference between the Windows 7 RC1 and the Windows 7 RTM consists of bug fixes, security updates, and other minor/major tweaks.
A few days ago we’ve seen screenshots of the Windows 7 Build 7600 which was thought to be the Windows 7 RTM, however, now we know for sure from the Windows Team Blog: Build 7600 is the Windows 7 RTM. That’s great, right? The good thing is that Microsoft kept its promise and is releasing Windows 7 to PC makers in order to add their “logos”, “brand” or whatever they want to add to the software.
Probably the second best thing of Windows 7 is that Microsoft managed to lock the hardware, meaning that you don’t need to upgrade your hardware for Windows 7 to work. Actually, Windows 7 is much lighter than Windows Vista and it won’t need to many resources that’s why I’m sure 7 will run much faster than Vista. Now we ca believe Ballmer when he says that “Windows 7 will be Vista, but better.”
We can hardly wait for October 22nd to come. Seriously. Finally, we’re getting what we deserve. Pardon us if we are excited, but I think we should be. If Windows 7 will be another fail, then that’s it: switching to Linux, and later on to Mac OS X.
