Apple Releases Mac OS X 10.5.8 Just Before For OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

Mac OS X Snow Leopard is coming, and Apple is preparing for it with an update to the Mac OS X Leopard, probably the best way to do it. If you hit the software update then Mac OS X 10.5.8 will show up with a file pack sized at 165MB. Snow Leopard is very close, and Apple should tweak and the things ready for the release with a supposed minor update. However, this time Apple did something unusual as the Mac OS X 10.5.8 changelog is rather long than short.

In Mac OS X 10.5.8 CalDev support is fixed in iCal, Bluetooth and WiFi fixes, and many security and bug fixes. The OS X 10.5.8 automatically upgrades Safari to 4.0.2, more accurate full history search in Safari 4.0.2, solved issue of Display panel which didn’t show certain resolutions, more reliable Bluetooth with external devices like USB webcams and printers, the aforementioned iCal reliability in MobileMe and CalDav, improved reliability with AFP, Managed Client, AirPort networks, and Sync Service, improved RAW image support, and improved compatibility with several external USB HDDs.

If you downloaded Mac OS X 10.5.8 then let us know how it works, and if not, what doesn’t work. I guess that you’re very excited that Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is so close to being released.

  1. Brian says:

10.5.8 hasn’t been released “just before” 10.6 Snow Leopard.
Snow Leopard will be released “in the fall.”
Nobody knows the release date yet.
I’d say this update comes at least 2 months prior to Apple actually offering SL.
