Xbox Live Down: Outage Gone, All Xbox Services Now Working

Xbox Live was down once again today, after a few weeks ago another outage upset a lot of users. Netflix was down too, however, the guys at the Xbox Live support announced that all Xbox Live services are now up and running. Although the cause of the outage is unclear, the Xbox Live status is OK after it was down today. Microsoft is probably preparing for the Xbox Live Update that will take place on August 11 in order to bring tons of new features that will improve your Xbox Live experience.

Xbox Live down today is nothing unusual to see. I’ve seen it many times, and I expect to see it once again soon, even before August 11 when the update will take place. Xbox Live down August 6 will be replaced with Xbox Live down August 11 as people are usually unprepared. I just don’t get it: if you are a Xbox Live user why don’t check the news section once in a while? Microsoft always announces when a routine maintenance or an update will take place.

For more information about the outage check out the Xbox Live status here, and for more info about the Xbox Live Update August 11 here.

  • If, as you say, “the cause of the outage is unclear,” (and presumably unexpected) how will it help if I “check the news section?” “I just don’t get it.”

I expect to see outages, as well. I am blind, so it’s possible that I missed something, but last night there was a dearth of information (that means “not very much”) regarding any outages – planned or otherwise. That this seems to have come on the heels of denial of service attacks possibly perpetrated by Xbox Live users at other sites also doesn’t seem surprising. The more broadly MS’ Xbox Live expands its reach and the more subscribers it takes on, the more likely the chances of abuse and attack.

  • Yeah, I didn’t catch anything about it on the news section. Whats worse is I tested my xbl connection ( as I assumed it MAY be on my end) and the diagnosis was ” you are able to connect to internet but not xbox live, there may be a problem with YOUR connection”. Well, it must be me then right? So I followed the cues, reset my router, tested again. This time it said ” you may need to open ports x,y and z on your router to connect with xbox live” Wow. Now its saying the problem is not only my end, but somehow in the last few minutes my router config just crapped out on me? Then, only then, do I notice the fine print in the background, which ony lasted a split second, which said something to the effect of “you may experience difficulties loggin on, we are aware of the difficulties, blah blah blah. So, why in the background in fine print that literally only lasted a second between the test connection screen and the results screen? Why nothing on the dash? A simple heads up would’ve been nice. I truly enjoy xbl, but these little hiccups are unnecessary and frustrating when you have a set time set up to meet with people from all over the world to blow stuff up, and the device says it’s “MY” connection tha’s bad. They need to move that split second, “we are aware of the problem” info screen to a stand alone page. Seriously.

  • I agree with medakai and wade. I hate how MS tries to cover up network outages. I was inconvenienced, I pay for the service, and I will probably not be compensated. what shit.

  • Most of the time when it is planned they carry an announcement, but not this time. The outage was not planned. whoever wrote this article they need to get a clue.

  • Hey there people, I just wanted to holla and tell you that I found a great site. For those of you who don’t want to spend unwise amounts of money on ppv fees to watch UFC 108 online FREE in full high definition. Far Better then spending $55.95 on it eh?

  • Your website is loading very slow for me. Might just be my isp but i am not sure… anyways nice post. It helps me a lot, thanks so much. Will definitely bookmark your blog for future reference :)
