PS3 Firmware Update 3.0 is Live – Playstation 3
We already told you that PS3 firmware 3.0 is coming and now it’s live with a lot of major updates. The new firmware brings a friend list redesign, XMB functionality, dynamic themes, avatars, a status indicator and much more features we will list in a future article.
The new status bar is placed on the top right of the screen and lets you know if you have messages, shows the user icon, and avatar. Both free and premium avatars show up in the status bar now. Shortcuts to the PlayStation Store now show up in the video and games categories of the media bar and you will be able to find related content and items available for download.
The PS3 Firmware 3.0 is the latest major update in 2009, but minor tweaks might be released.
We will let you know more about all the new features, improvements and changes in a new article. Stay put !

The new firmware is hideous! The fontsize is WAY too big, the boxes in the friendlist are a horror to see and scroll through and the sparkles are distracting as hell. The PlayStation Store in the game section is unnecessary (but I know why they put it there…). New clock bar, but why still have that annoying controller status window pop up? Integrate it too! Sony really have no clue, do they? The worst console even got more worse…
Dude stfu you 360 lover. your also forgeting the free fast internet. the font is now easier to read for those smaller tv’s. 360 font reallll tiny. they made it more user friendly because its a family console AND professional console. xbox is a poser wanna be system. get the fuck outta this forum if your going to cry about everything

I like the update only one thing pisses me off and that is the fact that you can’t stop that annoying info screen up on the top right from scrolling useless information you nor i care about. I dont want to know whats new with playstation store, i’ll look myself if i want to. It would be really cool if it posted weather or news updates instead.

Alright a new update, sweet cant wait…oh and x240x: you can stop the anoying pop screen go to settings and disable it, dont knock sony if you dont know your system…Bob watch your mouth aint nothing about sony cheap..an if your gonna bitch on ps3 just give the system to somone who appriciate it.

I have a HD tv and I’ve just updated my ps3 and I like the look, I did notice the font size had gotten bigger, was bothered by it for about 10secs, and no I don’t care…I don’t even know what updates my 360 needs, haven’t used it for about 2-3 months…To each his own I guess.

and why does it overheat anyway… the power supply isnt even internal!
you have no web-browser…
you cant upgrade your hard-drive except for the ONE upgrade from xbox.
you cant download the OS.
the only thing the xbox has on the ps3 is the freakn analog sticks.
oh yea, and Halo… and OST… yea, i think my little sister PWNS newbs on that now…
Halo is the only reason xbox took its breath into big dogs with nintendo and sony… shouldve died like dream-f’n-cast.
