Samsung i8000 Omnia II Available For Pre-order At Amazon For “Only” $1000
The Samsung Omnia 2 has been officially leaked on Amazon. We knew from multiple sources that the smartphone is coming soon, but now it’s official that this beauty will arrive here very, very soon. Amazon is now listing the Windows Mobile-based smartphone at a surprisingly “low” price: $999.99. That’s great isn’t it? Sell your car, stop feeding your kids, and take three jobs, but hey: you will have a pretty cool device called Samsung Omnia II.
Probably the best thing is that this beauty is coming to Verizon as we’ve seen in the leaks. If the unsubsidized and unlocked version costs a fortune, the Samsung Omnia II might be priced somewhere at $300 which is also too much. However Sprint is selling the HTC Touch Pro2 for $350 therefore the Omnia 2 might cost $400. And if Verizon is getting this beauty would they let the WiFi option to be enabled? I think they will.
Samsung Omnia II features a big 3.7-inch AMOLED 480 x 800 resistive touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, 8GB of built-in memory which can be increased up to 32GB via a microSD card, WiFi, GPS, Windows Mobile 6.1 upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5 on October 6, and Samsung TouchWiz 2.0 UI. Sounds great, right? At the moment I think that Verizon should work at a deal with Samsung and to price this smartphone as low as possible. Let us know how much would you pay at Verizon for the Samsung Omnia 2.

Ever thought of your picture showing the Samsung i900 Omnia and not the new Omnia II…
I’ve been waiting for this phone but won’t pay more than $199. If the price is higher, iphone here I come…
$199 for me too. It looks good but willl WM6.5 be to little to late?
I really want a phone I can work from, but not for more that a couple hundred bucks.
Good luck to all that want an unlocked phone for $200…an unlocked 8gb iPhone runs about $500.
I guess I wasn’t clear. I’m waiting on $199 subidized (not unlocked) when Verizon releases it. I have no problem signing on for a two-year contract…but I’m not paying more than the subsidized iphone price for a phone that can only claim to be closing the gap with the iphone.
I’d pay up to 400 for it with renewing of 2 year contract…
Microsoft followers will live on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches just to afford this phone. Verizon has the best service on the east coast. Kudos to them! I predict under $400.
200 for me otherwise AT@T and iphone. I’d rather have verizon but not worth that!
I want it bad, but not more than $200.00 bad………..
$199 w/contract. The iPhone price point is the sweet spot. It’s not worth paying more than $199 for a device that you most certainly will replace every two years–especially when you can get an iPhone for this price.
I would like to pay $199 or under but the highest I will go is $250. Higher than that, I will get the iPhone.
I may pay up to 200, but evenhesitant at that untilthe phone is proven the Omnia was hyped up and turned out to be so so. For 400, I’d rather get a different phone and get that mini netbook that I can use that I think is 199. At 400 bucks, this phone better sing and dance by itself
i’d pay 200….anything more is theft…
I really want the phone, but when we cross the 200$ threshold I start thinking of all the other stuff I could buy for the same price. I could buy a new phone AND a netbook for 400$
$200.00 seems to be a fair price with a 2 year contract. When the contract expires I am sure there will be something else available, therefore $200.00 is the max for me!
That’s crazy.
The iphone is cheaper than that and the iphone is better.
They need to lower their price of people will ditch verizon.
BOYCOTT THE CELL PHONE INDUSTRY.
A phone shoudn’t cost more than $200.00.
Sure the Iphone is cheaper but the service isn’t great. If the omnia 2 is what it is supposed to be then at 199 for 2yr contract with the best service then thats worth more to most people. Remember the 32gig iphone IS NOT CHEAP! Great apps but horible service. AT&T needs to improve that before I make the switch.
My contract with Verizon is over and ready to be renewed. I’ve been holding out to get an upgrade hoping that the Omnia HD i8910 would hit the United States but that doesn’t seem to be happening. Then the Omnia 2 is supposed to come out which is a bit of a down grade but it will do. If its more than 200 with contract, I’ll have to cut my losses and get the iphone chick magnet with ATT.
200 for 8gb. 250 for 16gb.
$500…probably more.
Some of us may need to wait a little longer for Samsung i8000 Omnia II. It’s my understanding Windows Mobile 6.5 will release Oct. 6th. Doesn’t make sense for Samsung/Verizon to release this phone with Windows Mobile 6.1. See the link below.

Comparing the Omnia series with the iPhone is tempting, but it is a big mistake. The iPhone is an Apple based device most useful to people who will take advantage of the wide range of aftermarket apps. The Omnias are MS based cell phones with good PDA style organizer features (tasks, calendar, etc.). Arguing about which of these two very different systems is “best” is like arguing over whether apples or oranges are the best fruit. They are equally good, but good at different things. Choose based on what you expect to do with the phone, not on an attempt to crown one “best” in some absolute sense. And, do not forget that you will have to live with a different carrier based on which you choose, and different carriers perform differently in different locations. Think about the big picture, and get the device and carrier that does what you do most with the least hassle. and forget about whether someone else who uses their phone differently approves of your choice!
i’d probably pay up to 199 or so but i don’t need all of the extras if its going to cost me $400!!!! Looking forward to find out more info!!!
The $200 consensus is pretty strong regardless of rationale. They can release these phones at a higher price but most of us will wait. I’m hoping they take the brave step for impact and go right for the $200 pp right off the bat – could change the momentum toward iPhone.
The needs analysis above is correct. Nonetheless, many of us do still prefer WM regardless. The TP2 has a keyboard, so take off $50 to step back to the Diamond 2 on that one.
unOfficial Pricing as of 09/02/09
$199.99 8gb, CP $599.00 retail
$299.99 16gb CP
*Contract Price- 2yr- no prorate##
Until the release I wouldn’t be too concerned about the model name so long as specs are for CDMA OMNIA 2. Hope the post is correct about the price. question – if it has a memory card, what is the real advantage of 16MB vs 8 MB? Doubt its worth $100. Still looking for that definitive comparison between the US Omnia 2 & the HTC Diamond 2
The Samsung Saga is priced at $199 with a 2 yr contract and 100$ online discount. If it is more than that, forget about it and go for an iphone. Same goes for the HTC Touch pro 2.
does any one no when the real release date for this devc been eaiting the first omnia i’ll only pay up to 250
