Cheaters Lament The Loss Of TF2 Halo Hats

September 3rd, 2009

I have never enjoyed cheating at games. I like to win, but I want to do my best and if you do that, you’ll win for sure. Cheating will make you lose the point of playing a game, and everybody else will not look at you with good eyes because you’re nothing more than a cheater. Team Fortress 2 is a nice game, and the TF2 team is looking to crush all cheaters by stripping them of their Halo Hats that were obtained using 3rd party apps.

On the TF2 blog you can read that all TF2 Halo Hats that were obtained thanks to external idling apps will be removed, and those who used them will receive “zero tolerance” from now on. Because there was no policy for TF2 cheating, the team will only remove the items that were earned using these apps, but from now on, if anybody uses external idling applications will be stripped off of all their items.

It’s certain that all cheaters lament TF2 Halo Hats, but they should have played it the right way. At the moment there is only a 4.5% percentage of cheaters from the total amount of players, and they’ll have to say goodbye to the Halo Hats in the next few days. The TF2 blog says that those who were fair will see another hat in their inventory soon, and that the chances of finding existing hats have been increased.

I hope you’re enjoying Team Fortress 2 the right way cause it will pay off in the end.

  • It’s only fair. Cheaters don’t deserve to have any hats.

  • In my opinion, this is shouldn’t be considered a “cheat”.
Using the idler is the same as going to an idler map, waiting there while you’re AFK for your hats! While those remain unpunished, the ones who DID use the idler get all the pain. The same applys to achievements. Valve should remove the achievements of people who HAVE played on an achivement map. That’s just my opinion though.

  • you gotit all wrong [facepalm]
all the items, hats included the idlers got from the app will be removed and all the people who didn’t idle will get a hat which IS the halo, meaning everyone who didn’t idle has a halo and everyone who did don’t.

  • I also think achievement servers are also a way of cheating. I think the game would be more fun if people actually “earned” the new weapons, accessories, etc. Then you could really tell a noob from an experienced player.

  • Its not cheating. Cheating is when someone has an upperhand advantage. Using idler, people recieve weapons that can be obtained from achievements and drops. The weapons are fairly easy to obtain. The hats do not provide any advantage. It only provides a new look. If you buy clothes that people dont have, are a a cheater? I think not. Removing the weapons are enough, but adding a hat to rub it in the idler’s faces is just not right. Why should achievement servers be allowed then? Why should dice mod be even implemented? They all may provide something that others want.

  • i didnt cheat to get my halo.. i dont even know what external apps are.. all i know is a halo appeared in my inventory a couple days ago, so i use it.

  • Any system that rewards players for time played over skill is a bad system that supports individuals who have no lives.

The hats acquired through the idler were removed *Not* because they did not earn them. They were removed only because it was a 3rd party program, and letting it stay in use without any sort of repercussion would only set a precedent that VALVe was okay with these.

The majority of players with halos were unaware of the program. The halos are typically found on the heads of noobs. (There’s also a small population of people with sticks up their asses who only heal people with/without halos, but they just need to grow up).

It is a video game. Don’t take it so seriously people.

  • Well, I just started playing this game for a straight 3 weeks. And have NEVER gotten ANY hats nor items since then. I would like to know why. (I never used anything to become better such as wallahcks and shit.) PSS. TF2’s random weapon dropping is THE SHIT!
