Wouldn’t you love to play games on a 3D TV ? I’m absolutely sure this will be the next level of gaming and Sony has just announced at IFA 2009 that the 2010 PS3 firmware update will bring 3D support to PS3 games. Fortunately for the players, the PS3 will support any 3D TV so you won’t need Sony’s 3D Bravia HDTV that they’re preparing to release. The unfortunate part is that all 3D TVs will be very expensive at the beginning, so not everybody will be able to get one.

I’d like to know your opinions about the new 3D gaming. Are you enthusiastic about it and going to sell your car to get a 3D TV or can you wait a few years until they get cheap ?

  • Both Sony and Panasonic are bringing out 3d FHD tv’s next year, good for us consumers, hopefully there will be a price war early on :-D

  • first off i don’t really like this idea.. im not a fan of 3D thing .. you have to wear glasses and it really doesn’t look that great.. i like enjoying hd in 1080p no glasses needed so that if you do forget you glasses your not stuck looking at something in blue and red. idk just my thoughts

  • So is the 3D processing done by the TV post output from the PS3? Surely if we are meant to wear 2 colour glasses any TV would be able to display if the 3D signal came from the console? I had posters when I was a kid that leapt out with some simple red and green specs – whats so great about the TVs?

  • Ahh – just did a bit of reading … no glasses are needed – now it gets exciting! http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2006/08/71627

——–the 3D rendering is not done with old school red and blue separate hues in the lenses… its all the way the frams set… and the frames are REAL3D brand which uses what looks like to the naked eye double imaging of your current 1080p or current resolution, but in realality its actually 2 images beeing progressively reporduced in 2 different motions, think of it as the left eye as a wax on motion and the left eye in a wax off motion… the 2 swirling progressive images put together give you a true 3D image.

  • Great blog! I had to use a HDFury I bought from http://www.AVFury.com to play my PS3 on RGB.

  • Mitshubishi already has 3D tvs.

Just wonder how much sony is going to charge for the 3D Glasses to play the games in as well as the adapter to sync.

Or if they will use the cheap plastic polarized glasses like the movie theaters.

I have a Nvidia 3D Vision Kit on my HTPC and play a lot of games with it.. its great.
