FCC To Propose Net Neutrality Rules On Monday
The FCC plans on proposing a new set of rules that will protect the free information and application flow over the Internet service providers’ networks. The rules are to be presented by Julius Genachowski (the chairman for the FCC) on Monday.
This action comes as a result of the pledge made during the presidential campaign by president Barack Obama – a supporter of Internet neutrality and of equal internet traffic treatment. It appears that Verizon Communications Inc., Comcast Corp. or AT&T Inc are the companies that will be affected the most.

There are two sides to this coin: on one side you have the fear that ISPs can interfere directly with the content transmission while on the other hand those ISPs claim that they need independence in controlling their networks for keeping some applications from consuming too much bandwidth and thus slowing down the Internet speed of other users.
Word is that the FCC will adopt a principle of nondiscrimination as part of the new set of rules. This will be the fifth principles, with the other four being adopted in 2005.
