Several weeks ago we heard a rumor which said that Verizon is not going to carry the Palm Pre as first announced. Since the unveiling of the Pre, there has been a war going on between Sprint and Verizon for the smartphone. Verizon said that the handset is coming, while Spring repeatedly said that its exclusivity over the Pre lasts longer than early 2010. Things took a direction in favor of Verizon who announced via its Twitter feed that it “will be carrying the Palm Pre smartphone early next year.”

So there you have it, another important announcement in the month of smartphones. Verizon is lining up against all other carriers who have been gathering lots of smartphones lately thanks to the BlackBerry Storm 2, Android handsets, and the Palm Pre amongst others. What we really like to see is the Nokia N900 hitting the stateside as soon as possible, and if it’s heading to Verizon then we would have a big smile on our faces.
