Verizon’s Droid Commercial Shows No Sings Of Motorola’s iDroid
Yesterday we’ve seen a very interesting ad and like one of our readers put it: “it’s effectual and simple and to me that works and wins every time.” That is true, and I also thought that the Droid commercial is simple, however, I realized that it’s not as simple as it looks. The iDon’t commercial was seen by millions of people and most of them don’t have a clue about Android smartphones and the war of the carriers.
There are lots of ideas going through my head and here’s one: AT&T’s exclusivity deal with Apple over the iPhone will expire soon, and we might think that the 3GS is heading to Verizon in early 2010. The thing is that Verizon wouldn’t air a commercial which clearly attacks the iPhone, not AT&T. If Verizon would have gotten the 3GS then the carrier wouldn’t have pointed out all the weaknesses of the smartphone because nobody would have bought the phone. This means that Verizon is not getting the iPhone hence the carrier should use any words in order to destroy iPopular.
Many people are asking: why isn’t a picture of the Motorola Droid in the ad? Where is the iDroid? Where is the iDoIt? We want to see it! Personally, I’m thinking that this is another attack-minded tactic against Apple and the iPhone. Why? Verizon is trying to beat the Cupertino-based company with its own weapons. If you don’t know Steve Jobs’ tactics then here they are: his company doesn’t release information about the products, doesn’t post pictures, doesn’t do anything. Apple lets people talk, come up with rumors, and go crazy until they unveil a device/product. I admit it’s a crazy idea, but we’re leaving in a crazy world and this is a crazy war. Desperate times require desperate measures, even if they’re lame.
The problem is that we’ve already seen the Motorola Droid aka Sholes, the first Android 2.o Eclair-based smartphone in the world. We know what it looks like, we know almost all about its specs, we know the huge capacitive touchscreen, and we know that it does more than an iPhone. But it’s not in the Droid commercial. Droid does, but Droid is not there.
For two years we’ve been hearing of an iPhone killer. Could the Motorola Droid be “THE” executioner of Apple’s smartphone? You can read more about the Motorola Droid here and here, and you can check the iDon’t commercial below. Remember to leave your thoughts in the comments section at the end of the post.
