Wolfram Alpha is now an application for Iphone, but priced at 50$
I consider Wolfram Alpha as the direct opponent of Google. But when Google develops a bunch of programs, very useful ones, and they are all for free, I don’t understand what the people behind Wolfram Alpha are thinking.
Why buy an application for Iphone priced at 50$, just to use a graphic calculator, when you can simply point to the address on the internet and have the same result for free?
I understand that Wolfram Alpha’s capabilities are beyond any other search engine at this point, but even if it was under 5 dollars still the application won’t be sold.
Why? My mobile internet is 4,76 euro’s per month so why in the God’s name I buy an application for 50$ when my service is less the 10 dollars per month?
I think that what they are trying to sell is the algorithm that hides behind the Wolfram Alpha’s search engine, making it known to the public.
In this case the situation changes, you are not buying only a calculator you are buying an entire search engine.
Still if this is how they want to make contact with a market on global recession, I think is a bad plan… they should look much more into the rivals backyard which are developing lots of applications and services that are free or almost free.
Even if in the future Google plans to make them into paid services at least now are free.

Wolfram Aplha
I am a huge fan of Wolfram Alpha, but in this way they will disappear as fast as they appeared. It’s just making Wolfram Alpha to look bad and stupid.
