There is no doubt that Porsche is the perfect icon for refinement and perfection when it comes to building cars, but I simply couldn`t imagine that the extravagant car maker could really be interested in environmental problems.

I`m sure that you all agree that when I say “Porsche” all you could think about is an aggressive car with a huge engine and a stunning torque, which, of course, comes with a really consistent amount of pollution, but it seems like that the Porsche engineers decided to combine these elements, with the highest precision, and create one of the best hybrid cars.

Porsche 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid

At first the Porsche 918 Spyder was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show as a concept, but then the Porsche supervisory board decided to put the 918 Spyder into production.

Porsche`s hybrid car shouldn`t be underestimated because it`s powered by a V8, which has not less than 500 horsepower, and two electric motors with 109 HP each. You can have an approximately 16 miles pollution-free journey with the electric motors, because they are powered by a lithium ion battery. In case the battery isn`t charged the electric motors still helps you saving up some money giving the fact that they offer you the possibility to have a 78 miles trip with just a gallon, which  I think that sounds very, very great.

The producers haven`t released its starting price yet, but there are some speculations that the cost will be somewhere between $600,000-$650,000 USD.  If you really are interested in buying Porsche`s 918 Spyder then you should hurry up, because you could be eligible for the $7,500 tax free.
