It seems that Toyota’s role in the North American car makers battle is about to take a serious punch, one that will test this company for what is made for. The reason of all this fuzz is an official announcement, that can be summarized like this: Toyota suspends sales and announces a recall list made out of its Camry, Matrix, Corolla, Avalon, Tundra, RAV 4, Sequoia and Highlander models.

The United States and Canada plants will close down for the first week of February, and then return to normal functioning. They probably could not afford creating any more models that they’ll have to fix around so why not stop and take time to fix everything up at the basic car model first. And that mistake could have been translated in losing money on the long run, especially since its at the North American planes where a combined number of 1 Million cars are made each year. (these are figures only for the Camry, Matrix, Corolla, Avalon, Tundra, 2009-2010 model year RAV 4 , the 2008-20010 Sequoia model, and the 2010 Highlander models).

Although this should not affect Toyota on the long run, since it seems to have the financial power to withstand this punch, the company might also have problems in dealing with the amount of money that they obviously lose as a company on the short run.

Toyota has pre-announced this last week when they told the public the will recall 2.3 million vehicles or checking out issues with the accelerator pedal. Toyota seems to be accumulating some experience in dealing with these kind of bad situations: they are at the second massive recall in the U.S. in the last 4 months.

Toyota suspends production for the first week of February at its Indiana, Texas, Ontario and Kentucky factories. This comprehensive recall list actually means that they want to take care of your problems in as much hurry as possible, as they are losing money by not actually having the power to produce anything. So, my guess is the quality of service in this tough time for Toyota is going to be at its best, since they just want the problem solved as quick as possible.
