I was getting tired of all netbooks, and I was thinking to get my hands on a real notebook. I think that the netbook-mania will end soon (one-two years) but notebooks will remain as popular as ever. Here is a sleek laptop from Acer which is a available for a moderate price, but we’ll talk about that later. It’s called Acer Aspire AS6930-6067 / AS6935-6194 and it comes packed with a Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 processor at 2.0GHz, and a 16-inch Acer CineCrystal WXGA TFT screen at a 1366 x 768 resolution.
I couldn’t live without a Core 2 Duo chipset while the 1366 x 768 resolution can be considered HD on a notebook. Besides the black-dominated sleek design, we should appreciate the 4GB DDR2, the 320GB SATA HDD, the keyboard, and the 802.11a/b/g/draft-n WLAN. Why? Well, the pre-installed Windows Vista Home Premium needs a lot of memory to run properly, everybody needs a lot of storage, an ergonomic keyboard is a must, while a WiFi-less laptop has no point.
The Acer Aspire AS6930-6067 / AS6935-6194 Core 2 Duo 16″ notebook features an Intel GMA 4500MHD, Super-Multi optical drive, 5-in-1 multimedia card reader, modem, Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 3 x USB 2.0 port, a VGA port, HDMI port, two built-in stereo speakers, headphone jack, and microphone jack. Well, not too much to notice here, but we have to appreciate the HDMI port, and Bluetooth.
The Acer Aspire AS6930-6067 / AS6935-6194 Core 2 Duo 16″ notebook measures 15.2 x 10.9 x 1.7-inch while weighing 7.5lbs. There is enough space to pack a four-way touchpad with a scroll button, and 6-cell Li-ion battery which provides up to 2.5 hours of battery life. The laptop is kinda heavy, but it’s rather small. A major setback is the battery – only 2.5 hours of life is not much, but you can improve that thanks to the Windows Vista Aero feature.
Like aforementioned the notebook comes pre-installed with Vista Home Premium. I really like this notebook thanks to its design, and the good specs. I’m saying good specs because this netbook costs only $499.99 today at Woot.
